Our incredibly popular pysanky egg dyeing workshops are back! Join us for a morning or afternoon of artistic exploration as our skilled instructor, Wendy Hallstrom, leads you through the historic and intricate process of creating beautiful eggs in the Ukrainian Easter tradition. Access to exploring the first floor of the Museum, including The Sacred Art of Ethiopia exhibition, is included in the workshop admission fee. Both beginner and advanced classes are available, so don’t wait to book your spot!

Goose Egg Class Description: Pysanky isn’t just for chicken eggs—have some fun learning to write on a goose egg. A class design will be provided or bring your own. The materials fee includes one goose egg that has been emptied and cleaned, plus a large assortment of dye colors. This workshop is for those who are familiar with the pysanky process and is not suitable for those who have never dyed eggs in this fashion. Tips for dyeing goose eggs and creating larger designs will be taught.  If you have a flexible tape measure (type used for sewing), please bring it.

About the Instructor:

Wendy has been dyeing eggs in the pysanky tradition (Ukrainian egg dyeing) for over 30 years and teaches this ancient technique throughout Western New Jersey and the Philadelphia region. In addition to dyeing pysanky, Wendy is a watercolor artist whose work is in several private collections.  She also writes religious icons in egg tempera in the Russian tradition and modern icons with acrylics.
