Founded in 1963 by Anne Beate Stokkebye (1929–2010) in Odense, Denmark, Anne Beate Design is recognized for its handmade figures rooted in Scandinavian craft traditions. The company’s Nativity sets were first introduced in the 1960s and continue to be produced today with the assistance of local artisans working at home. Since 2004, the workshop has been owned and run by Mette Markes Jepsen, who upholds its founder’s emphasis on traditional craftsmanship.
