These brightly colored Nativity figures wearing traditional Vietnamese hats are shaped from circles of rolled newsprint. Adapted from a traditional basket-making technique, this set is made from recycled magazines and posters discarded by a printing company. Artisans in Ho Chi Minh City form paper into flat strips, dip them in glue, and hang them to dry. The strips are then re-wet, coiled, and glued together in forms to create each figure.
