This Christmas card was based on an original watercolor by Geoffrey Dawson, an architect who lived in London, England. His wife, Nancy Dawson, sent this card to Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn, perhaps after Geoffrey had passed away. The card features a black-and-white reproduction of the original ink and watercolor painting of the Adoration of the Shepherds. The scene is accompanied by the words, "They found him lying in a manger," referencing a verse from the Gospel of Luke (2:12). (The dates of the painting and card are unknown.)

A color painting showing dark-colored shepherds and sheep in the foreground and a tree trunk on the right. A roof and brick wall complete the outer edges. The bright center shows a woman in red and yellow clothes leaning over a manger.
