In 1949, Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn commissioned Bryn Athyn artist Winfred S. Hyatt to design this Christmas card. It shows an angel surrounded by light announcing the birth of Christ to two shepherds with the inscription “BEHOLD I BRING YOU GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY” (Luke 2:10). Hyatt is remembered principally for his work at Bryn Athyn’s stained-glass studio, which produced windows for both Bryn Athyn Cathedral and Glencairn. He worked for the Pitcairns from 1916 until his passing in 1959.
